Our Mission / Our Goal

Our mission is to offer fast, effective dog training that is a positive experience, easy to understand, reliable in "real world" situations and lasts for the life of the dog.

Scott Williams, Training Director
Dog training is a passion for Pasadena dog training director Scott Williams, owner of Beyond The Leash. He has owned nine dogs — six Belgian Malinois, one English Mastiff and one Samoyed.

Scott is a Certified French Ring Decoy and participates in trials as time permits. He enjoys competing in protection-based dog sports. He has also studied with the best dog sport competitors in the world like Bart Bellon (two time Belgian Ring Champion), Ivan Balabanov (Shutzhund Champion) and Philippe Belloni (French Ring Training Decoy) to name a few. Scott is a Professional Member of the IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals), NARA (North American Ring Association) and PSA (Protection Sports Association). Scott is also a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

Pasadena dog training director scott williamsDue to his superb handling abilities, Scott's dogs have been recruited for television shows including the E Channel's Scream Play and an upcoming documentary on the breeding of the English Mastiff.

An ex-Marine, Scott recognizes the value of dogs as protectors and rescuers and has made himself available to assist in protection training, working with organizations like the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit.

Scott is a graduate of the No Limitations Remote Collar Training School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Scott has incorporated his skills as an entrepreneur and combined them with his passion for dogs and provided an exceptional service in the dog training arena. "There is such a need for dog training," he says, "and people don't have the time or the knowledge to train properly. This only results in frustration for both the owner and the dog." Scott offers Doggy Boot Camp to those who want it, taking dogs into his own home for an intensive two-week course. Customers who have used this service rave about the dramatic and positive results.

Scott resides in La Cañada, California, with Cathi, his wife of thirteen years, and their three children, Nicholas, Alexander and Katerina, and their two dogs Ginger and Loco.

Adrian Centeno
Adrian Centeno has had an attachment to dogs that started early in life. There were always animals at family's home but it was not until Adrian was nine years old that he got his first own dog. From there and without knowing what dog training was, Adrian started his initiation into the training world by teaching his dog basic commands and tricks. The bond between them was so strong and the result so rewarding that the feeling motivated Adrian to try to learn more about dogs.

Still a child, Adrian met a Pit Bull trainer/breeder who owned more than 15 dogs, who encouraged Adrian's passion for dogs. He spent countless days throughout the years with this trainer learning about dog behavior, training techniques and animal physical conditioning. It was not until many years later that Adrian went through formal education and obtained his certificate as a professional from FCM, Mexican Canine Federation, a recognized member of the FCI, Fédération Cynologique Internationale.

The study of training techniques, training tools and dog behavior is important for Adrian who is in constant development of his abilities by attending seminars. But Adrian's biggest learning source is from the dogs themselves and by his daily interaction with them.

Adrian's experience with dogs comes not only from the many clients' dogs he has trained throughout the years but from the variety of dogs he has owned all his life: Boxer, Pit Bull, Siberian Husky, Alaska Malamute, Rottweiler, Drogue de Bordeaux, Giant Schnauzer, French Poodle, Dutch shepherd and Belgian Malinois.

Adrian Centeno is a present member of the North America Ring Association. He has been certified as a ring sport decoy and he is also an active competitor with his Dutch Shepherd at this association sanctioned events, such events combine obedience, agility and protection. His passion for French Ring sport has taken Adrian and Rex to win the 2006 National N.A.R.A. Vice Champion Title for Ring I. Next trial season, Adrian will also start competing with his Belgian Malinois.

Adrian has the strong belief that you can teach any dog to be a well mannered companion by using the proper training technique, a pleasure to own, not a problem.
